The ceramic series was first developed in the studio workshop in 2018. It was created from working with and experimenting with crude manganese clay. The very dark, almost black burnt clay with its slightly rough structure has a very earthy, almost charred character. The cracked surface reinforces this character and when used on vases or planters, it looks as if flowers and plants grow from dry soil, from which ashes blossom. The way in which the cracks occur can only be controlled to a limited extent. Space is given to chance so that no object is the same as the other. It was important to make the special character of the material visible and to focus on the material itself and not to hide it under glazes.
